Global Head Of ESG And Risk at Biocair

Stephen Cawley is currently the Global Head of ESG and Sustainability at Biocair, where they are responsible for developing and implementing an ESG strategy across all aspects of the business. Stephen sets goals for social responsibility, environmental sustainability, and community engagement, and works with senior leaders to create policies and procedures. Previously, Stephen served as the Independent Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Reuse Network and Reuse Enterprises, where they focused on increasing the availability of quality goods and supporting grassroots organizations. Earlier in their career, they held various roles at John Lewis & Partners, including Head of Sustainability & Resp Sourcing, where they developed and implemented a sustainability strategy, and Head of Merchandise Standards, where they managed product development and quality. Prior to that, they were a Senior Buyer and held various buying roles at John Lewis, as well as various in-store operational roles.

Stephen Cawley has a diverse education history. In 1985, they obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in French & Celtic from the University of Glasgow. In 1986, they pursued further education at Edinburgh Napier University, where they earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing & European Languages. In 2021, they completed the Exceptional NED Programme at the University of Leeds. In 2023, they enrolled in the University of Cambridge's Institute for Sustainability Leadership, specializing in Business Sustainability Management. Additionally, they have obtained various certifications, including CybSafe certification in security awareness, Business Sustainability Management certification from the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, and solid waste management certification from The World Bank. In 2016, they also completed media training with Host Media Consultants Ltd.
