Nicola Potts

Senior Scientist at Biofidelity

Nicola Potts has a strong background in scientific research and assay development. Nicola started their career as a Research Assistant at the Animal Health Trust in 2006, where they developed a diagnostic blood test for streptococcus equi. Nicola then worked at the University of Cambridge as a Research Scientist and PhD Student, focusing on investigating MHC haplotype diversity in domestic chickens. During their time there, they also developed novel assays using a wide range of techniques.

In 2013, Nicola transitioned to a role as a Science Instructor and Office Administrator at Mad Science East of England, where they taught and presented science content to schools and children. Nicola was also responsible for team coordination, recruitment, office administration, and sales.

In 2017, Nicola joined TTP plc as a Biological Scientist - Consultant, specializing in assay development for diagnostic platforms. Nicola mapped biological techniques onto novel engineered platforms and launched products to central labs. Nicola also reported data and project progress to investors.

In 2018, Nicola moved to LGC as a Senior Scientist, where they focused on assay development and analytical validation. Nicola worked with leading pharmaceutical partners in drug discovery pipelines, utilizing a broad range of immunoassay platforms.

Most recently, Nicola has joined Biofidelity in 2021 as a Senior Scientist. Nicola'srole involves assay development and product development for a novel oncological platform that targets lung and colorectal cancers. Nicola is also responsible for managing the QC work stream development.

Nicola Potts has a strong educational background in the field of biology and genetics. Nicola obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Immunology and Genetics from the University of Cambridge, where they studied from 2009 to 2016. Prior to their doctoral studies, Nicola completed their undergraduate studies at the University of Bath, earning a Biological Sciences MBiol (Integrated Masters) degree in Applied Biology between 2002 and 2006. Additionally, they pursued an Integrated Research Masters in Neuroscience at the University of Kentucky from 2004 to 2005. In terms of additional certifications, Nicola obtained a British Gymnastics Club Coach certification from the British Gymnastics institution in December 2006.
