Jeff Barrett

Jeff Barrett has a well-rounded work experience in various fields. Jeff recently joined BioFire Defense in 2022 as a Research Associate. Prior to that, they worked at Analytical Resource Laboratories, LLC from 2020 to 2022. During their time there, they served as a Microbiology Team Lead, supervising staff in a BSL-2 lab, coordinating interdepartmental efforts, and conducting interviews and training. Jeff also worked as a Microbiology Laboratory Assistant, preparing and testing daily samples, mastering various laboratory techniques, and producing in-house nutrient media.

Before joining Analytical Resource Laboratories, Jeff gained experience as a Biotechnology Intern at InnovaBio from 2019 to 2020. As part of a student research project, they focused on researching the biodegradation of plastic waste material, conducting experiments, and maintaining an organized lab notebook.

Jeff's earliest work experience was at UHEAA, where they worked as a Collections Rep II from 2014 to 2018. Jeff successfully directed defaulted borrowers out of collections, scoring highly in call quality monitoring and demonstrating resourcefulness in locating and contacting customers. Overall, Jeff has demonstrated strong skills in research, laboratory techniques, team leadership, and customer service throughout their work history.

Jeff Barrett obtained their high school diploma with an emphasis in technology from Copper Hills High School in 2011. Jeff then went on to attend Salt Lake Community College, where they earned an Associate of Science degree in Generals in 2018. Jeff continued their education at Salt Lake Community College and received an Associates of Science degree in Biotechnology in 2021. During this time, they also obtained a Certificate of Proficiency in Biotechnology (Honors) from Salt Lake Community College in December 2019. Currently, they are pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology with a minor in Philosophy at Utah Valley University, which they are expected to complete in 2022.
