Stelian Pop has extensive work experience in various research and laboratory management roles. Stelian began their career as a Research Assistant at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where they focused on biochemical studies of Desulfitobacterium dehalogenans. Stelian then moved on to roles at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and Harvard University, where they conducted C. elegans research and managed lab operations. Later, Stelian worked as a Lab Specialist/Lab Manager at the University of Utah School of Medicine, primarily focusing on colon cancer research. Stelian continued their lab management career at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, overseeing operations and conducting research on squamous lung cancer. Stelian also worked as a Scientific Researcher at Knudra Transgenics, leading the C. elegans transgenics department. In their most recent role as a Sr. Scientist at InVivo Biosystems, they generated personalized nematode model organisms for clinical variants and performed R&D experiments to improve efficiency. Stelian is currently employed as a Research Associate 3 at BioFire Defense.

Stelian Pop began their education at the "Mihai Eminescu" National College, where they earned their High School Diploma in Mathematics and Physics from 1990 to 1994. Stelian then continued their studies at the Universitatea "Babeș-Bolyai" din Cluj-Napoca, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and Physics from 1995 to 1999. Following this, they obtained a Master's degree in Catalysis and Biocatalysis from the same university from 1999 to 2000. Finally, Stelian attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where they completed their Master of Science degree in Biochemistry from 2001 to 2005.
