David Leahy

Senior Director, Chemistry Manufacturing & Controls at Biohaven Pharmaceuticals

David Leahy is the current Senior Director of Chemistry Manufacturing & Controls at Biohaven Pharmaceuticals. Prior to this, they served as Associate Director of Process Chemistry at Takeda from July 2017 to October 2020. David has also held the position of Principal Scientist at Bristol-Myers Squibb from February 2004 to December 2017.

Throughout their career, David has been responsible for leading various projects and teams. Some of their notable accomplishments include successfully developing and executing a new chemical route for an analogue with poor efficiency, inventing a new synthetic route to circumvent a key scale-up liability, and being a key thought leader in developing new CMC strategies utilized by subsequent PET tracer teams.

In addition to their professional achievements, David is also committed to the professional development of project teams and direct reports, helping them refine their skills, obtain promotions, and identify new roles that meet their career aspirations and passion.

David Leahy has a PhD in organic chemistry from Indiana University Bloomington, and also did PhD studies in organic chemistry at the University of Delaware. David also has a BS in chemistry from Lebanon Valley College.

David Leahy reports to Rajesh Kumar, SVP, Global CMC & Supply Chain. They are on a team with and Javier Gonzalez - Executive Director, CMC.
