Raz Benou has extensive work experience in the field of biotechnology and research. They are currently the Chief of Democracy at Democratech Israel since February 2023. Prior to this role, they worked as a Senior Researcher at Biolojic Design, Ltd. since January 2022.
Their earlier work experience includes roles at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, where they served as a Research Assistant at the environmental biotechnology laboratory and the biosensors laboratory from June 2019 to December 2020. In these roles, Raz led research on biodegradation of plastic, managed research projects, collaborated with companies, and wrote scientific reports and research proposals.
Before that, Raz worked as a Researcher and Department Engineer at the environmental biotechnology laboratory and the Department of Environmental engineering at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev from 2017 to 2018. They were responsible for acquiring lab equipment and materials, handling inventories, assisting graduate students, and maintaining laboratory systems.
Additionally, Raz has experience as a Teaching Assistant in various subjects, including Classical and Molecular Genetics and Principles of General Chemistry B to Biotechnology at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev from 2014 to 2016. They also collaborated on research at Nanyang Technological University in 2015.
Raz Benou completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology Engineering from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, starting in 2010 and ending in 2014. Subsequently, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Biothechnology Engineering from the same institution, starting in 2015 and completing it in 2017.
