Laura Calamos, PhD, is a distinguished lecturer and researcher recognized internationally for teaching advanced assessment, clinical reasoning, research and leadership. She has been on faculty at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill since 2003, where she has had extensive experience working with clinicians and leaders across the globe. She has been an advanced practice registered nurse in both the UK and US with more than 20 years of direct patient care experience in primary care and public health, providing care in a variety of hospital and community settings including PBMT/oncology, sexual health, immunization, and family practice. Her background in client-centered service, quality improvement and management is also utilized in her role as Chief Administrative Officer of Calamos Family Partners, where she provides leadership for the firm’s cross-functional collaboration and strategic initiatives across multiple organizational entities. Additionally, Dr. Calamos continues to see patients in primary care as a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Calamos earned her Ph.D. from King’s College London in the UK, completing nationally funded research in the social sciences by examining the integration of services across the health care system.
