Suma Rao

Suma Rao is an accomplished leader in the pharmaceutical industry, currently serving as Head of CMC Leadership at BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. since January 2023. Prior to this role, Suma held the position of Executive Director at Allogene Therapeutics, overseeing pivotal and commercial process development for allogenic cell therapies and manufacturing science and technology for cell and monoclonal antibody therapies. Suma's extensive experience at Amgen spanned multiple roles, including Director of Global Operations, where responsibility included the successful commercialization of Aimovig for migraine prevention, and various managerial and scientific positions focused on purification process development and manufacturing strategy. Suma holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University and an engineering degree in Chemical Engineering from RV College of Engineering.
