Vikrant Dutta has extensive work experience in the field of scientific affairs and microbiology. Vikrant started their career as an Assistant Veterinarian at Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University in Nagpur, India in 2004. Vikrant then worked as a Research Assistant at USDA-ARS from 2005 to 2007, where they focused on studying the effects of stress on the colonization of pathogens in poultry. From 2008 to 2011, Vikrant worked as a Research Assistant in Microbiology at North Carolina State University, where they explored genetic attributes responsible for the disinfectant, Listeria-phage, triphenylmethane dye, and heavy metal resistance in L. monocytogenes.
In 2011, Vikrant joined EnviroLogix Inc./ Ensign Bickford Industries Inc. as a Senior Scientist and later took on the roles of Team Lead/Supervisor and Manager of DNAble Product Development. During this time, they played a key role in the development of isothermal nucleic acid amplification diagnostic tools for the detection of food-borne pathogens and conducted studies for third-party certifications.
In 2015, Vikrant joined the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a Microbiologist, where they contributed to various projects until 2016. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Director of Scientific Affairs at bioMérieux, a role they have held since August 2021.
Vikrant Dutta holds a PhD in Microbiology from North Carolina State University, which was completed between 2008 and 2011. Prior to that, they obtained an MS in Poultry Microbiology from the University of Arkansas, from 2005 to 2007. In 2000, Vikrant completed their undergraduate studies, earning a DVM in Veterinary Medicine from Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University in Nagpur, India. Vikrant also holds a certification in EXECUTIVE PRESENCE AND INFLUENCE: PERSUASIVE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT from Emeritus, received in 2023.
