Ray Browning

Ray Browning is the current CEO and co-founder of Biomotum, Inc. Prior to this, they were an associate professor at Colorado State University from August 2008 to May 2015. Browning's research interests include the role of physical activity in the prevention/treatment of childhood and adult obesity. Ray has also funded research programs in biomechanics and physiology as well as physical activity monitoring. Their responsibilities as a faculty member included undergraduate and graduate courses in biomechanics.

Some of Browning's notable achievements include leading large, extramurally funded (> $1M) physical activity research projects, managing/mentoring ~15 research staff/students responsible for executing research, and establishing product development research for several sporting goods industry partners. In addition, they have published research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals (cited over 1000 times), communicated research findings and their relevance to diverse audiences at a variety of events, and co-founded a company (Physical Activity Innovations) and secured extramural funding (~$1M) to develop innovative physical activity monitoring devices.

Ray Browning earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University, a Master of Science in Kinesiology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Integrative Physiology from the University of Colorado Boulder.
