Maya Olshina

Research Team Leader at BiomX

Maya Olshina has a diverse work experience in the field of research and science. Maya is currently working at BiomX Inc since 2020, where they hold the position of Research Team Leader. Prior to this role, they worked as a Scientist at the same company from October 2020 to January 2023.

Before joining BiomX Inc, Maya worked at the Weizmann Institute of Science from 2015 to 2020. During this time, they held the position of Senior Postdoctoral Fellow from September 2018 to September 2020. Maya also worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the institute from September 2015 to September 2018.

Maya started their career at Monash University in 2009 as a Research Assistant in the lab of Prof. Jamie Rossjohn. In this role, they were involved in expressing, purifying, and crystallizing natural killer cell receptors whose structures were solved at the Australian Synchrotron. Their tenure at Monash University lasted until 2011.

Maya Olshina's education history begins with their high school education at Beth Rivkah Ladies College, which they attended from 1998 to 2003. Maya then pursued a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Melbourne from 2005 to 2009. Afterward, Maya proceeded to earn their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, University of Melbourne, specializing in the fields of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Medical Biology, and Parasitology, completing their degree from 2011 to 2015. In 2013, they were a visiting PhD student in the Department of Molecular Genetics & Cell Biology at the University of Chicago. Additionally, in 2014, Maya attended Imperial College London as a visiting PhD student in the Department of Life Sciences.
