Swagata Kar

Swagata Kar, Ph.D., has a diverse work experience in the field of biomedical research. Swagata started their career as a RA/Senior Research Fellow at the National Institute of Virology, where they worked on various projects related to genomic characterization of Hepatitis A and Hepatitis E virus. Swagata also worked in the Microarray and Gene Expression facility, contributing to projects involving gene expression profiling and influenza virus diagnostics.

Dr. Kar then joined The National Institutes of Health as a Biologist, where they focused on studying clinical serum antibody responses against Plasmodium antigens and working with recombinant proteins of Plasmodium falciparum.

Swagata started their academic journey by earning a Master of Science (M.Sc) degree in Zoology from Savitribai Phule Pune University, which they completed between 2005 and 2007. Following this, they pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Microbiology and Immunology at Drexel University, where they studied from 2010 to 2011. Swagata then continued their Ph.D. pursuit in Immunology at Uniformed Services University from 2011 until 2016.
