Matt Helms

As Senior Director at BioGenerator Ventures, Matt focuses on investing and developing companies in the AgTech and Food sectors. Matt brings experience developing and running commercial businesses across the US and globally. He has extensive experience in product development, management and launches as well as marketing with a focus on bridging from R&D through commercialization. He has led the reset of various businesses during his career and led commercial and R&D licensing deals. He brings a focus on the marketplace, customers, market trends, and partnerships to the team.

Prior to joining the BioGenerator, Matt was the Chief Commercial Officer at NewLeaf Symbiotics leading the transition from an R&D focused organization into its commercialization. Prior to that, Matt worked 18 years at Monsanto Company in a range of leadership roles including the Vice President of Global Agriculture Productivity focusing on investment and development of R&D resources as well as the Global Crop Protection Marketing Lead.

Matt has a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an Executive Masters in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis.
