Danesh Sundar

UK Laboratory Manager at BiotaX

Danesh Sundar has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Danesh began their career as a "'Toe by Toe' Mentor" in 2016, where they provided academic tutoring and pastoral support to vulnerable students. In 2019, they volunteered as a Research Presenter for the NIHR, engaging with the public and inspiring children to pursue careers in science. Danesh also worked as a Teaching Assistant at the Sharnbrook Academy Federation, teaching Biology, Chemistry, and Physics to students of various ages and abilities.

In 2018, Danesh worked as a Genomics Laboratory Technician at UCL, performing RNA, DNA, and protein extractions, as well as quality control analyses. Danesh also undertook an independent research project on transcriptomics of leukaemic cells at UCL Genomics in 2019.

From 2020 to 2021, Danesh served as the Lead Student Representative at the UCL Faculty of Population Health Sciences, representing student views, shaping teaching, and developing effective solutions through extensive consultations and committee meetings.

Currently, Danesh works as the UK Laboratory Manager at BiotaX, a biotech start-up. Danesh'sresponsibilities include leading laboratory operations and ensuring high-quality genomic sequencing for the development of advanced biology-based bioinformatic AI platforms, enabling personalized and effective microbiota treatments.

Danesh Sundar pursued their Bachelor of Science degree, specializing in Applied Medical Sciences BSc (Hons), at UCL from 2017 to 2020. Danesh then continued their education at UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health, focusing on Cell and Gene Therapy, and completed their Master's degree, MSc, in 2021. Currently, they are pursuing a Doctorate in Philosophy, PhD, at the same institution, specializing in the Molecular Biology of Childhood Cancers.
