Dave Mazurek

Dave Mazurek joined Birchwood in 2022 and is a Senior Vice President. He is primarily responsible for Birchwood’s overall portfolio growth and investment team performance. Dave is also the head of Birchwood’s senior housing vertical.

Dave is objectively obsessed with senior healthcare and believes there is no greater opportunity than Birchwood that aligns with both his values and the ability to make a lasting positive impression on the industry’s stakeholders. Prior to joining Birchwood, Dave’s 17 years of real estate and senior healthcare experience include founding Matter State Real Estate Investment Partners, serving as Chief Investment Officer for Seasons Living, and leading the senior living platforms for Sterling Bay and Convexity Properties. Additional experience includes Ventas, Inc. (NYSE: VTR), where he directed all capital investment activities for a portfolio of 95 senior living communities in the US and Canada and advanced Ventas’ ESG initiatives within that portfolio. Dave currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Urban Land Institute Senior Housing Council and was previously an Advisory Committee Member of the American Senior Housing Association (ASHA).

Dave is a graduate of the University of Illinois with a BS degree in Finance and played professional baseball with the Texas Rangers and Pittsburgh Pirates organizations following college. Mental health and cancer research are near and dear to Dave’s heart. He is a proud supporter of MyParachute.org, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and multiple other cancer charities.
