Vivien Chan is an Honorary Research Fellow at the Raphael Samuel History Centre at Birkbeck, University of London, and serves as the History Workshop Editorial Fellow from September 2023 to 2025, focusing on commissioning and editing articles for the History Workshop digital magazine. As an independent Design Historian and Researcher since April 2021, Vivien has been producing workshops, projects, and publications, alongside regular contributions to various art and design journals. Co-founding astra* in June 2020, Vivien is involved in projects related to grassroots design archives in East and Southeast Asia. Additionally, as a Co-Founder of the Hong Kong Design History Network and a Lecturer at Nottingham Trent University, Vivien teaches courses in illustration and design research methods. Completing a PhD at the University of Nottingham with the COTCA project, Vivien's academic background includes a Master’s Degree from the Royal College of Art and a Bachelor's degree from Kingston University.
