Jim Payne, C.M., A.C.E. has a strong background in airport operations and management. Jim began their career in 1996 at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, where they served as an Operations Officer II. After four years in this role, they were promoted to Operations Supervisor. Jim worked in this position until 2003 when they joined Birmingham Airport Authority as an Operations Supervisor. Over the years, they progressed in their career at Birmingham Airport Authority, taking on roles such as Operations Manager, Director of Operations & Planning, Senior Director, and Chief Operating Officer. Currently, they hold the position of Chief Operating Officer at Birmingham Airport Authority.
Jim Payne, C.M., A.C.E. attended Auburn University from 1991 to 1995 where they pursued their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Aviation Management.

The Birmingham Airport Authority was established in 1986 by the Birmingham City Council to manage the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport and continue its growth. The Birmingham Airport Authority is governed by a seven member Board of Directors, appointed by the Mayor of City of Birmingham and confirmed by the Birmingham City Council. The day to day operation is managed by the President and CEO and The Birmingham Airport Authority staff of over 100 employees within five departments. The Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) home to four major airlines with over 100 daily flights to 15 cities for more than 2.6 million passengers in 2016. BHM offers a great variety of food and retail options for passengers along with amenities for all passengers alike.
