Afton O. Shavers

Afton O. Shavers, MPH, MPA, currently serves as the Chief Administrative Officer at Birth Detroit since April 2024. Prior experience includes roles as Grants Program Manager for Health Equity at MPHI from January 2022 to April 2024 and Project Manager as well as Community Outreach Coordinator at the Greater Flint Health Coalition from May 2018 to January 2022. Afton O. Shavers began the career as a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at Mid Michigan Child Care Inc from May 2008 to May 2018. Academic credentials include a Master of Public Health in Urban Health from Drexel University Dornsife School of Public Health (2020-2023), a Master of Public Administration in Non-Profit/Public/Organizational Management from the University of Michigan - Rackham Graduate School (2009-2011), and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from Purdue University (2001-2005).
