Carmen Diaz Soria has a diverse work experience in various scientific and research roles. Carmen is currently working as a Senior Scientist II (Team Leader) at bit.bio since April 2023, where they manage a small team in the Bioinformatics group within the NGS space. Prior to this, they held the position of Senior Scientist I (Team Leader) at the same company from November 2020.

Before joining bit.bio, Carmen was involved in promoting science activities for children and their relatives in prison visiting times as a Project Leader at the Golden Eagle Prison Project since January 2019. Carmen aimed to inspire curiosity and showcase the beauty of science, particularly using parasites to understand infectious diseases.

Additionally, Carmen worked as a College Research Associate at King's College Cambridge from November 2020, where they aimed to bring science engagement activities to individuals who otherwise lacked access. Carmen'sfocus was on inspiring children with families in prison through science-related activities.

In their earlier career, Carmen served as a Volunteer in the Wellcome Sanger Institute COVID-19 Surveillance Team from May 2020 to October 2020. Carmen also worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Wellcome Sanger Institute from March 2017 to October 2020, wherein they contributed to the construction of the first single-cell transcriptome map of the parasite Schistosoma mansoni. Carmen collaborated with research groups in the USA for validation and presented their work at national and international conferences.

Carmen's educational background includes a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge, where they were a Wellcome Trust Ph.D. student from September 2012 to November 2017. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies at King's College London from September 2008 to July 2012. In their early professional development, they gained experience as a Student Intern at Eli Lilly and Company from September 2009 to August 2010.

Carmen Diaz Soria's education history includes a Bachelor's degree in Molecular Genetics from King's College London, which they obtained from 2008 to 2012. Later, from 2012 to 2017, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biology/Genomics at the University of Cambridge.
