Caolán Rafferty has a strong background in Kdb+ development and has held various roles in the field. Caolán started their career at Morgan Stanley as a Kdb+ Developer, where they worked on developing and maintaining a timeseries database system. Caolán then moved on to Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where they served as a Kdb+ Developer and later as a Team Lead, working on an eFX algorithmic trading application. After that, they joined Kx - a division of First Derivatives plc, where they worked as a Kdb+ Consultant, providing intensive training in Kdb+/q programming and taking on various internal roles. Caolán then joined BitMEX as a Senior Kdb+ Developer, where they were part of the Risk Management team responsible for facilitating liquidity on the BitMEX trading platform. Caolán also worked at Barclays Investment Bank as a Senior Kdb+ Developer before returning to BitMEX as the Head of Kdb+ at Arrakis Capital. Caolán Rafferty attended St. Patrick's High School from 2002 to 2009, where they earned their A Levels in Mathematics, Business, and ICT. Following that, they pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Finance at Queen's University Belfast from 2009 to 2013. In addition to their formal education, Caolán also obtained various certifications. In March 2018, they obtained the Linux+ certification from CompTIA and the LPIC-1 certification from the Linux Professional Institute. More recently, in October 2022, they completed the course titled "Machine Learning A-Z: Hands-On Python & R In Data Science" offered by Udemy.
