Ashok Varadharajan

Ashok Varadharajan has a diverse range of work experience in the field of data science and bioinformatics. Ashok currently holds the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at bitsCrunch since September 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Data Scientist at Altran from August 2020 to September 2021.

Before joining Altran, Ashok worked at Ludwig-Maximilians Universität München from February 2014 to August 2020. During their time at LMU, they served as a Bioinformatician in the "Big Data infrastructure, analytics and management - NGS" department at Gene Center. In this role, they were responsible for building bioinformatics infrastructure and administering computing environments. Ashok also collaborated with biologists to optimize analytics pipelines for various omics projects. Ashok also worked as a Research Assistant in the "NGS IT Infrastructure" department at IBE, LMU where they designed user-friendly webpages, administered data analytics platforms, and established distributed management systems. Ashok also completed their Master Thesis during their time at LMU, focusing on whole genome sequencing analysis of Mycobacterium caprae outbreak.

Additionally, Ashok has experience as a Research Intern at Clariant, where they worked on developing models for multi-dimensional data and establishing automated data analytics pipelines. Ashok also gained experience in data architecture and analysis of omics data. Ashok interned at HelmholtzZentrum München, where they compared different sequencing methodologies and assessed their reliability.

Ashok started their career as an Assistant Systems Engineer at Tata Consultancy Services from July 2011 to October 2013.
