Sharon Duan has over 7 years of professional experience in product design, UX research and design, marketing, content strategy, business development, communication and event coordination, and graphic design. Sharon began their career in 2012 as an Assistant Editor for FROMzine, then moved on to the Embassy of Costa Rica as a Communication and Graphic Design Intern. In 2013, they worked for the DC Mayor's Office on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs as a Communication and Event Coordination Associate, and for [wherever] magazine as a Marketing and Communication Coordinator. Later that year, they joined Better Chinese LLC as a Website Designer and Content Strategist and a Business Development Coordinator. In 2015, they were a UX Designer for Phlint, and in 2016 they were a Marketing Coordinator for SunlyTech. In 2018, they worked for General Assembly as a Product Manager & UX Designer Apprentice and a UX Researcher & Designer Apprentice. Lastly, they were a UX Researcher & Designer at Uncommon, where they prototyped a mobile web app interface and conducted user research and competitive analysis.
Sharon Duan has a Master's degree in Communication, Culture and Technology from Georgetown University, as well as a Certificate in Asian Studies from the same university. Sharon also holds certifications in User Experience Design from General Assembly (2019) and User Experience and Web Design from UCSC Silicon Valley Extension (2015). In addition, they have attended the Geneva Graduate Institute for a program in Trade, International Development and the Internet.
