Vance Cook

Founder at Bivy

Vance Cook has an extensive work experience in the gaming and outdoor industry. Vance began their career in 1987 as a Programmer at Access Software, where they ported existing golf products from Commodore 64 to Apple platforms. In 1992, they founded Headgate Studios and developed the minor product PentaCalc before turning to game development. Vance designed and developed a next-generation engine for graphics rendering, physics, and animation for golf games. In 1996, Headgate Studios was acquired by Sierra Online and Cook became head of the development studio, where they completed a golf game engine and released golf game titles. In 2006, Headgate Studios was acquired by Electronic Arts (EA Salt Lake) and Cook became an Executive Producer, responsible for several teams and all aspects of the products. In 2010, Cook left EA to pursue new projects and founded Bivy, a platform to help people find and track adventures near them. Vance also added the Bivy Stick satellite communication device to let them communicate beyond cell range for safety and convenience. In 2012, Cook also became the Owner of Treehouse Lodge. In 2021, Cook joined ACR Electronics, Inc. as VP 2-Way Satellite Communications.

Vance Cook attended the University of Utah, where they studied Computer Engineering.
