Summary of Position: The Senior Director, Marketing has three primary areas of responsibility; team leadership, marketing and business development.

  • Team Leadership: The Senior Director, Marketing leads Blach’s Business Development & Marketing (BDM) team. A champion for the BDM team, this person is responsible for managing, supporting and developing team members to ensure they are all thriving in their roles individually and collectively, while growing, learning and being challenged in a meaningful way.

  • Marketing: The Senior Director, Marketing will be the primary person focused on strategic marketing and will be fully responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing plan, in support of Blach Construction’s business development and branding needs. The successful candidate will leverage the Blach Construction and Folia brands to increase customer and partner relationships and sales. This person also will be responsible for managing Blach’s public relations and marketing communications (i.e. website content, marketing collateral, advertisements, branding, social media, industry awards, etc.).

  • Business Development: At a high level, the Senior Director, Marketing will oversee Blach’s pursuit and proposal efforts, providing executive input, strategy and support to the Director, Business Development and other business development (BD) colleagues.

Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership and Management
    • Provide support, management and leadership to BDM team
    • Ensure collaboration and overall effectiveness of BDM team
    • Ensure departmental processes and procedures are in place, communicated and followed
    • Ensure department has tools, systems and infrastructure needed to successfully and efficiently fulfill their responsibilities
  • Branding/Corporate Identity
    • Drive all identity-related initiatives, including but not limited to logo, wordmark, brand and voice guides and any resulting items that bear the Blach/Folia brands
  • Public Relations
    • Develop & implement general PR strategy, including but not limited to media outreach/relations, industry, project, community and thought leadership opportunities and events, news releases, media alerts, and blog posts
    • Oversee award submittals for company, employee, project and industry-related initiatives
  • Advertising/Sponsorships
    • Identify and execute targeted and integrated advertising and sponsorship programs aimed at increasing overall brand awareness in core markets and regions
  • Event Marketing
    • Collaborate with colleagues cross-organizationally to identify, direct and support Blach/Folia presence at targeted conferences, shows and events
  • Partner Marketing
    • Cultivate relationships with Blach and Folia partners (architects, subcontractors, consultants, clients, etc.) to evangelize Blach/Folia brands and promote collective efforts, collect and provide testimonials, evaluate and submit award entries, etc.
  • Digital Marketing
    • Oversee design, development and maintenance of blach.com and buildfolia.com from architecture through creative and messaging
    • Manage the BD and Marketing team’s presence on the Company Intranet
    • Implement all social marketing efforts, ensuring amplification of newsworthy events and evaluating engagement
  • Marketing Communications
    • Oversee creation of all marketing communications materials and assets, including but not limited to brochures, project sheets, program sheets, case studies, corporate and project photography and videos and other assets required to build the Blach/Folia brands and promote services across core target markets
    • Establish, articulate, maintain and evolve the Blach/Folia voice as it relates to various marketing deliverables and initiatives
    • Assist with and support internal communications and initiatives including but not limited to Safety, Operations, Preconstruction, HR, and other internal teams (marketing collateral, communication/messaging, branding, etc.)
  • Business Development
    • As needed, support BD colleagues and company executives in:

    • Developing and implementing business development strategies

    • Tracking and managing BD pipeline

    • Building company backlog

    • Overall proposal process

    • Enable business development through highly effective marketing efforts

Expectations:

  • Provide strong, engaged and supportive leadership

  • Build trust and credibility throughout the organization and within the broader industry

  • Mentor and assist in the management and growth of all team members

  • Strategically guide all marketing and communications efforts, providing recommendations, counsel and leadership

  • Support all sales and business development efforts

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience in marketing, specifically focused on high level, strategic marketing

  • Relevant experience in the Architecture, Engineering, or Construction fields preferred but not required

  • Bachelor’s degree is required, with an MBA or advanced training a plus

  • Must have excellent organizational, relationship-building, verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office required, with photography experience a plus

  • Teamwork, collaboration, creativity and prioritization are key skills for this position.

Position Status: Full-time, regular business hours, exempt

Location: San Jose, CA (in-person); up to 15% travel within California
