Alisa Gumbs has a diverse work experience that spans several roles and companies. Alisa began their career at PR Newswire in 2000, where they held the position of Senior Copy Editor and Regional Feature Correspondent. Alisa then joined Black Enterprise Magazine in 2003 as a Copy Editor, and over the years, they progressed to roles such as Copy Chief, Managing Editor, Executive Managing Editor, and most recently, Vice President/Deputy Chief Content Officer. In their current role, Alisa is responsible for content strategy, managing beat editors, coordinating magazine production, creating digital series and campaigns, and setting editorial direction for events and conferences.

Alisa Gumbs attended Hunter College High School from 1988 to 1994. From 1994 to 1998, they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
