Derek Silbaugh

Derek Silbaugh is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in the energy sector, currently serving as the Director of Generation Engineering at Black Hills Energy since November 2007. In this leadership role, Derek provides direction for engineering projects and regulatory compliance for generation facilities. Previously, Derek held positions such as Principal Generation Engineer and Sr. Manager of Engineering and Plant Services, achieving significant operational and financial milestones while overseeing numerous turnkey projects. Derek's earlier career includes roles as Regional Manager at ThyssenKrupp Robins, managing substantial material handling projects, and Plant Manager at Triton Coal Company, where organizational management and staff development were key responsibilities. Derek earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wyoming.
