Marc Teer

Founder & CEO at Black Spectacles

Marc Teer has extensive work experience in the architectural field. Marc founded and served as the CEO of Black Spectacles, an architectural software company, starting in 2010. Marc also founded and served as the CEO of Spectacular Design, another architectural company, starting in 2020.

In addition to their entrepreneurial ventures, Marc has held various membership positions in prestigious organizations such as The Economic Club of Chicago, YPO (Young Presidents' Organization), and Entrepreneurs' Organization.

Marc is an experienced architect, having worked at Gensler from 2005 to 2012. Marc also served as an Assistant Adjunct Professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology from 2007 to 2011.

Furthermore, Marc has been actively involved in the architectural community, holding positions such as Co-Chairman of the Young Architect's Forum at AIA Chicago and being a member of The American Institute of Architects (AIA), where they served on the Advisory Group for Technology in Architectural Practice (TAP) in 2017. Prior to their time at Gensler, they also worked as an architect at Legat Architects from 2002 to 2005.

Marc Teer has a Master of Architecture degree from Clemson University, which they obtained between 2000 and 2002. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Architectural Studies degree at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 1995 to 1999. In addition to their educational background, Marc Teer has also obtained the certification of Fellow from the American Institute of Architects in February 2020.
