Gareth Deacon has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Gareth began their career in 2003 at Codemasters as a Quality Assurance Technician and Audio Engineer. In 2005, they moved to Global Games/Games Media, where they held the same role before joining Hargreave Hale in 2006 as a Chartered Wealth Manager. Gareth worked at Hargreave Hale for over 12 years until 2018. In 2018, they joined Blackfinch Group as a Portfolio Manager, where they co-managed the launch of the Blackfinch Model Portfolio Service. Gareth then progressed to become an Investment Director and, currently, the Head of Multi Asset. Gareth has developed active and passive portfolios for Blackfinch's advisor client base, accessible through third-party platforms.

Gareth Deacon completed their undergraduate education from 2000 to 2003 at Staffordshire University, where they studied Music Technology. Afterward, they obtained several certifications in the field of investment and finance. In November 2006, they achieved the certification in Unit 2 - Securities from the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI). In October 2007, they obtained the CISI Level 3 Certificate in Investments (Securities) and the Unit 01 - FSA Financial Regulation certification. Gareth continued to expand their expertise in investment management, earning the Unit 05 - Investment Management certification in May 2010, followed by the CISI Level 3 Certificate in Investments (Investment Management) in June 2010. Gareth pursued further specialization in private client investment advice and management, earning the Private Client Investment Advice & Management certification in July 2010. Gareth then attained the CISI Level 6 Certificate in Private Client Investment Advice & Management in December 2010. Completing their studies, Gareth achieved certifications in bond and fixed interest markets in February 2011, as well as regulation and compliance in September 2011 from the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI). Most recently, in September 2020, they obtained a Certificate in ESG Investing from the CFA Institute.
