Chris Downing is a seasoned financial professional currently serving as Managing Director and Head of Solutions Core Research at BlackRock since February 2007. Downing has extensive experience in model portfolio investment research and portfolio management, having also led Model Portfolio Solutions for the Asia-Pacific region from 2015 to 2023. Prior to joining BlackRock through its acquisition of Barclays Global Investors, Downing worked as a Senior Research Officer at BGI. Earlier in the career, Downing was an Assistant Professor at Rice University, focusing on corporate and real estate finance, and served as an Economist at the Federal Reserve Board, specializing in capital markets and real estate finance. Downing holds a PhD in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BA in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
