Former President and Chief Executive Officer of the Robertson Foundation and Former Chair of the Rhodes Trust
Sir John Antony Hood is a member of our board of directors. Sir John was elected to the board of directors effective May 14, 2018. Sir John previously served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Robertson Foundation, the Chair of the Rhodes Trust, on the board of the Mandela Rhodes Foundation, as Chairman of BMT Group, Ltd, and as a director of WPP plc, where he was chairman of the compensation committee. He currently serves on the Advisory Boards of the Blavatnik School of Government and the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment at Oxford. In addition, Sir John serves on the boards of the Fletcher Trust, the British Heart Foundation, Success Academy, and the Said Business School Foundation, and on the advisory board for the African Leadership Academy.
From 2004 to 2009, Sir John served as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford, and from 1999 to 2004, he served as Vice-Chancellor of The University of Auckland. Sir John earned a Bachelor of Engineering and a PhD in Civil Engineering from The University of Auckland. Upon completing his doctorate, he was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to study at the University of Oxford. There he read for an MPhil in Management Studies and was a member of Worcester College.
Sir John has been appointed a Knight Companion to the New Zealand Order of Merit.
