Samuel Adams

Department Chair, Director of Technology at Blair Academy

Sam Adams is director of technology and chair of the computer science department at Blair. Since joining the faculty in 1995, he has taught physics, pre-calculus, algebra, programming, computer-aided design, computer applications, robotics, artificial intelligence and advanced placement computer science. Outside the classroom, he has led numerous Blair activities, including lap swimming, kayaking, outdoor skills, recreational golf and weightlifting. He currently serves on the steering committee of the annual edACCESS technology conference. Sam completed his undergraduate work in electrical engineering with concentrations in computer engineering and control system theory at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in 1992. He continued on at RPI to earn an MBA in technology management. During his graduate studies, he had the opportunity to travel to Asia as an exchange student at the International University of Japan. Prior to coming to Blair, Sam worked for many years with children at Camp Pasquaney in Hebron, New Hampshire, where he was a swimming instructor, a trip leader, a nature counselor and director of the outdoor theater. Although he now lives off campus in nearby Belvidere, New Jersey, he previously served as a dorm leader in East and Davies Halls.
