Hamid Akbari has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Hamid started their career as a Consultant for the National IT Projects Evaluation Team in 2003. In 2004, they worked as a Consultant for Roland Berger Strategy Consultants and as a Manager for the Investment Banking Group. Hamid then co-founded and managed Abern Investment Group. In 2009, they became an Instructor at the Schulich School of Business.
In 2010, Akbari became the Director of a non-profit organization called PEACH. In 2012, they joined Ontario Tech University as a Professor of Strategic Management, where they were recognized as a finalist for the Best Dissertation Award and the Academy of Management GWU-CIBER Best Paper on Emerging Markets Award.
In 2013, Akbari became the CEO of Blanc Labs, a Toronto-based digital innovation firm. Hamid helped clients develop innovative digital solutions to drive business growth. In 2018, they became the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Velocia. And in 2021, they joined YPO as a member.
Throughout their career, Hamid Akbari has demonstrated expertise in consulting, management, teaching, and digital innovation.
Hamid Akbari has a solid education background, with a variety of degrees in different fields of study. Hamid completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Strategic Management at the Schulich School of Business - York University in 2012. Prior to that, they obtained their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Sharif University of Technology in 2004. Hamid'sundergraduate education was also completed at Sharif University of Technology, where they earned their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Industrial Engineering in 2001.
