Jon McCullough

Jon McCullough is an accomplished leader in sports organizations with extensive experience in advocating for athletes and promoting inclusivity in sports. Currently serving as Executive Director of BlazeSports America since 2013, McCullough is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with physical disabilities through sport. As a member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Athlete Council for the United States Soccer Federation since 2005, McCullough represents and leads athletes in soccer. Additionally, McCullough has been active in the International Paralympic Committee and the United States Olympic Committee, contributing to the development of initiatives that support athletes. McCullough's leadership roles extend to the Man Up Campaign, which focuses on preventing violence against women and girls. A veteran of the Paralympic Team, participating in the 1996 and 2004 Summer Games, McCullough's background in sports is further complemented by a Bachelor of Science in International Environmental Health from American University and a certificate in International Sports Leadership from the International Sports Academy.

Born in 1993 as the legacy organization of the 1996 Paralympic Games in Atlanta, BlazeSports is a non-profit organization and the longest running legacy program of any Paralympic Games. At BlazeSports, we’re driven by a desire to provide all children and adults with physical disabilities the chance to play sports and live healthy, active lives. Our mission is to change the lives of children and adults with physical disabilities through adaptive sport and recreation. Our Goals To provide sport, recreation and physical activity opportunities for people with physical disability in sport comparable to those provided non-disabled, nationally and internationally. To foster character development, productive lives, healthy lifestyles and self-sufficiency for people with physical disability through sport. To use cutting-edge training, distance learning opportunities, and fresh ideas as a vehicle to build the capacity of local service providers. To build positive perceptions of people with physical disability. To promote peace building, human rights and equity through sport.
