Ondrej Vanek's work experience begins in 2005, when they worked as a SW Engineer at Metis Consult s.r.o, focusing on the development and testing of modules for intelligent and cognitive trading agents. From 2007 to 2008, they worked at CertiCon a.s. as a SW Engineer, implementing the presentation layer for a car diagnostics application and testing large-scale car diagnostics. In 2008, they joined Rockwell Automation as a Researcher, where they designed and implemented a thin client for secure administration of control systems.
In 2010, Vanek became a Researcher at the University of Southern California, working on developing a game-theoretic framework for securing large networks, such as transportation infrastructures and computer networks. Ondrej also conducted research on deep packet inspection in computer networks and collaborated with the University of Southern California.
From 2011 to 2012, Vanek worked as a Lecturer at various NATO Advanced Research Workshops and Institutes, where they delivered lectures on modern technologies for energy infrastructure security and agent-based modeling and simulation of the maritime piracy ecosystem. In 2012, they also worked as a Lecturer at the International Maritime Organisation, delivering user-friendly tools for computer-aided maritime incident reporting and developing incident visualization, reporting, and analysis tools.
From 2008 to 2018, Vanek worked as a Researcher at the Czech Technical University, focusing on game-theoretic modeling of security for large and complex infrastructures, designing scalable algorithms for optimal security resource allocation, and validating these solutions in multi-agent simulations. Ondrej actively developed the simulation framework AgentC, data-mining techniques, and data-analysis tools for understanding and combating Somali piracy.
In 2014, Vanek became the Chief Executive Officer of Blindspot Solutions.
Ondrej Vanek received their Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence and Biocybernetics from the Czech Technical University in Prague, which they attended from 2008 to 2013. Prior to that, they obtained their M.Sc. in Artificial Intelligence and Control Engineering from the same university, completing their studies from 2002 to 2008. In addition, Ondrej Vanek spent a year at the University of Ljubljana from 2006 to 2007, studying Computer Science.
