Shalender D Gautam has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and positions. Shalender D started their career in 2006 as a Manager Accounts at Lilliput Kidswear Ltd, where they managed key stores and played a vital role in monitoring dispatch operations. From 2007 to 2010, they worked as an Internal Auditor at Lifestyle International Pvt. Ltd. In 2010, they joined Carrefour as a Senior Manager in Process Compliance. Shalender D held various roles within the company, focusing on process compliance and boucle completeness. In 2014, Shalender joined Future Retail Ltd as a DM in IT Process Compliance and Audit. Shalender D also worked at Snapdeal as a Manager in Internal Controls, conducting PAN India internal controls and process improvement. In 2018, they became the Internal Controller in the Director's Office at Blackberrys Menswear. Shalender D then moved on to Ecom Express Limited, where they held positions as Deputy General Manager and later as General Manager in Operations. Currently, they are working at Blinkit as the Head of Business Finance Operations.

Shalender D Gautam, also known as SDG, completed their schooling from Shri Sideshwar in the years 1984 to 1988. Shalender D then pursued their CA Final Group 2nd Passed degree in Cost & Taxes from ICAI between 2004 and 2007. Additionally, SDG obtained an Executive MBA in Finance & Retail Management from NIBM. Shalender D has also obtained certifications such as "Be the Manager People Won't Leave" and "Root Cause Analysis: Getting to the Root of Business Problems" from LinkedIn in the year 2023.
