Shamus Toomey

Shamus Toomey is the Publisher and Co-Founder of Block Club Chicago. Shamus was previously the Editor-in-Chief from February 2018 to June 2022. Prior to that, they were the Managing Editor at DNAinfo.com Chicago from January 2013 to November 2017. Shamus also worked as the Assistant Managing Editor/Metro at the Chicago Sun-Times from August 2003 to November 2012. Their earliest experience in journalism was as a Reporter at the Daily Herald from August 1997 to March 2003. Shamus began their career in 1995 as a Reporter/Editor at the City News Bureau of Chicago.

Shamus Toomey attended Syracuse University and received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.
