Karl Schriek

Karl Schriek is an experienced technology and data science professional currently serving as CTO at Block Markets Africa since April 2022. Previously, Karl held the position of Software Engineer at Arrikto from October 2021 to April 2022. From October 2016 to September 2021, Karl was the Head of AI and Leading Machine Learning Engineer at Alexander Thamm GmbH, also serving as Managing Data Scientist. Karl's career includes significant roles at Allianz Group, where responsibilities included Head of Biometric Risk Proposition Development, interim Head Proposition Developer, and Actuary from June 2013 to August 2016. Earlier experience as an Actuary at Gen Re from September 2008 to May 2013 laid the foundation for a robust career in actuarial science and technology. Academic qualifications include a Postgraduate Diploma in Actuarial Science from the University of Cape Town, a BSc in Financial and Actuarial Mathematics, and a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Pretoria.
