Magnus Berchtold

Magnus Berchtold has a diverse range of work experience in the financial industry. Magnus is currently serving as the Co-Founder, Chief Product Officer, and Board of Directors member at Blockpit AG, a RegTech company specializing in transactional processes on Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT). The company's platforms provide real-time monitoring solutions for cryptocurrency transactions, with a focus on preventing money laundering, fraud, and ensuring tax compliance.

Prior to their current role, Magnus Berchtold co-founded Cryptotax in 2017 and served as its CEO. Cryptotax is a Munich-based startup that offers tax reporting solutions and regulatory declaration services for cryptocurrency exchanges and blockchain asset users. Their methodology for processing tax reports is approved by a Big Four Accounting Firm.

Before their entrepreneurial ventures, Magnus Berchtold gained experience at KPMG as an Assistant Manager, where they examined the tax implications of complex capital market products. Magnus also worked as a Werkstudent in Financial Services Tax, where they calculated tax bases for investors of various investment funds.

Their early career involved positions at Augustus Consulting GmbH as a Werkstudent in Value Investing, Société Générale Securities Services as a Werkstudent in Risk- & Performance Analysis, Bayerische Landesbank as an intern in Financial Office Group Controlling, AutoScout24 GmbH as a Werkstudent in Dealer Produktmanagement, and Vereinigte Sparkassen im Landkreis Weilheim as a Privatkundenberater and during their apprenticeship as a Bankkaufmann.

Magnus Berchtold's education history starts with their Ausbildung zum Bankkaufmann (Apprenticeship as a Bank Clerk) at Berufsschule Schongau from 2006 to 2009, where they obtained a degree in Bank- und Finanzdienstleistungen (Banking and Financial Services). Following this, Magnus earned several certifications, including the Ausbildung zum Bankkaufmann from IHK - Industrie- und Handelskammer in January 2009, the CFTe - Certified Financial Technician from IFTA - International Federation of Technical Analysts in June 2014, and the CFM - Certified Financial Modeler from DICF - Deutsches Institut für Corporate Finance in March 2014. Magnus continued their education at Hochschule München University of Applied Sciences, where they completed their Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Masterstudiengang Betriebswirtschaft Finance und Controlling (Business Administration with a focus on Finance and Controlling) from 2014 to 2017. Magnus then pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Masterstudiengang Betriebliche Steuerlehre (Business Taxation) from 2015 to 2018. Finally, from 2018 to 2019, Magnus attended OTH Amberg-Weiden to obtain their Master of Laws (LLM) in Masterstudiengang Steuerrecht und Steuerlehre (Tax Law and Taxation).
