Karina Metcalf

Over 20 years ago, with an enthusiasm for figure drawing and medical dramas, as well as a sense of adventure, Karina crossed the country to attend Rochester Institute of Technology to earn her BFA in Medical Illustration with a minor in Literature. She’s been combining art, science, and storytelling ever since.

Karina loves solving complex visual problems and exploring medical content to extract essential messages for different audiences. She excels at detail-oriented tasks and has extensive experience with book and web illustration, design, and animation.

Her clients have included plastic and bariatric surgeons, science magazines, authors, hospitals, chemical companies, medical device manufacturers, and pharmaceutical companies. Before moving back to her hometown of Los Angeles and blazing her own trail, she worked for healthcare education companies in New York and Chicago.
