Lauren O'Brien, CPA, NACD.DC, currently serves as the Vice President, Chief Accounting & Risk Officer at Blue Cross NC since July 2018, previously holding the role of Vice President, Treasurer & Chief Risk Officer. O'Brien has a robust financial leadership background, having served as Senior Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer at Independence Blue Cross from 2009 to 2017, and Vice President, Chief Financial Officer & Chief Risk Officer at Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware from 2007 to 2009. Additional experience includes Chief Financial Officer at PROMINA Health System from 2003 to 2007, Field Finance Officer at Cigna from 1995 to 2002, and Internal Audit at Sedgwick James from 1994 to 1995. O'Brien holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Spanish from Emory University's Goizueta Business School and completed Leadership Philadelphia in 2012.
