Melissa Kaluzny

Vice President & Deputy General Counsel at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina

Melissa Kaluzny has worked at Blue Cross NC since 2010, initially starting as an Assistant Counsel and later becoming the Managing Counsel. In their role as Managing Counsel, they oversee the Health Plans and Products team, which handles legal issues for various health products and services. Melissa is responsible for counseling the company on state and federal legal requirements related to group coverage, wellness programs, and health care reform. Prior to joining Blue Cross NC, Melissa Kaluzny worked at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina from 2002 to 2009, where they held positions as Associate Counsel and Assistant Counsel. In these roles, they focused on ERISA matters and served as a legal subject matter expert for Product Development and Sales.

Melissa Kaluzny pursued their education by completing their Bachelor of Arts in History at Kenyon College from 1987 to 1991. Melissa then attended Hamline University School of Law, where they earned their Juris Doctor degree from 1993 to 1996. Melissa continued their academic journey by pursuing a Masters in Public Health specializing in Health Policy and Administration at the University of North Carolina School of Public Health from 1996 to 1997.
