Alaa Kamel

Alaa Kamel is currently serving as the Senior Policy Advisor for Labor at BLUEGREEN ALLIANCE since December 2022 and also acts as a Guest Lecturer at American University focusing on protests, labor issues, and social change. Kamel's prior positions include Research and Policy Analyst at SEIU Local 721, Strategic Analyst at AFSCME, and Strategic Researcher and Organizer at SEIU Local 1. Initial experiences include roles as Organizer in Training at SEIU and M.S. Student Liaison at George Mason University. Kamel's educational background encompasses a Master of Science in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University, Certificates from UCLA and Cornell University, and multiple undergraduate degrees in Arabic Language and Middle Eastern Studies. Additionally, Kamel has presented research on labor in Egypt at academic conferences and contributed to various associations focused on conflict resolution and labor movements.
