Blue Marine Foundation
Linas Svolkinas, PhD, is an Associate Researcher involved in a Caspian seal conservation project at the University of Leeds since November 2022. In addition to this role, Linas serves as a Researcher at the Conflict and Environment Observatory, focusing on the assessment of war damage to the environment and biodiversity in Ukraine. Linas also provides strategic guidance as an advisor for the Blue Marine Foundation since June 2022. Prior experience includes a position as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Leeds from January to September 2022 and as a PhD Researcher at the Sustainability Research Institute from October 2016 to October 2021, working on a similar project related to Caspian seals. Linas led the Center for Environmental Crime Studies from June 2012 to November 2017, promoting sturgeon conservation measures, and has worked as a Teaching Assistant and Visiting Lecturer at various universities from June 2010 to 2012. Linas holds a Master’s degree in Anthropology and a Bachelor's degree in Social Anthropology, both from Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen, along with a BA in Cultural History and Anthropology from Vilnius University.

Blue Marine Foundation
Known as Blue Marine, this UK registered charity was set up in 2010 by some of the team behind the award-winning documentary film ‘The End of the Line’. Blue Marine is dedicated to creating marine reserves and establishing sustainable models of fishing. Its mission is to campaign against over-fishing and for the effective protection of 30% of the world’s oceans by 2030.
