Derek Lucero

Derek Lucero is a structural design engineer with extensive experience in the aerospace industry, currently employed at Blue Origin since July 2018. Prior to this, Derek held similar roles at Boeing, where responsibilities included designing fuselage primary structures and advanced composite structures. Additional experience includes working as a technical engineer at Toray Composites, focusing on test method development and process improvement, as well as serving as a graduate research assistant at Purdue University, where design and testing efforts centered on repair methods for aircraft. Derek's educational background includes a Master's degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Purdue University and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.
