Kainalu Matthews

Kainalu Matthews is an Avionics Hardware Engineer at Blue Origin since July 2020, contributing to electrical design engineering on the New Shepard EE team while maintaining a lighthearted approach. Prior roles include EEE Component Engineer, overseeing the approval of various DPAs, PPAPs, and TWAs, and identifying alternate components for PCBs. As a Production Electrical Engineer, Kainalu managed nonconformances and set up test racks for flight hardware. Previously, Kainalu worked as an Electrical Engineer at NORTH STAR SCIENTIFIC CORPORATION, focusing on the design, testing, and troubleshooting of CCAs, and was an RF connector specialist. Academic background includes a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where Kainalu also served as a Research Assistant studying ultrasound transducer physics and optimizing gene therapy experiments.
