Margaret Tobias Grier is a program manager at Blue Shield of California Foundation, responsible for executing the Foundation’s grantmaking process and providing programmatic support to align systems with community priorities to make California the healthiest state and end domestic violence.
Before joining Blue Shield of California Foundation, Margaret was a program associate at The California Endowment, where she worked on the building healthy communities initiative. She supported grantmaking for an ecosystem of stakeholders in philanthropy, civic engagement, and government who work to end systemic inequities through community-driven solutions grounded in root cause and racial equity analysis, tools, and practices. She also helped develop and implement a foundation-wide framework to strengthen shared capacity to achieve belonging and equity, as a member of the Advancing Racial Equity Leadership Council.
Earlier, at organizations such as 4Cs of Alameda County, American Lung Association, and Filipino Advocates for Justice, Margaret championed solutions identified by those closest to inequities and rooted in healing so that generations of communities continue to thrive.
Margaret holds a bachelor’s degree in biological science from California State University, East Bay. She spends her time surrounded by music and the arts with her husband Rashee and daughter Leila Madeleine.
