Courtney A. Sanders is an experienced leader in program management and community outreach, currently serving as the Executive Director of the Chicago Chapter for Blue Star Families since January 2025. Prior to this role, Courtney held positions including Program Manager at Illinois Joining Forces and various roles at Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet, where management of services for homeless veterans was a focus. Additional experience includes caregiving support, organizational leadership as Chief Engagement Officer for The Rally Point Program, and significant contributions in academic administration at Chicago State University and Governors State University. Courtney holds an MS in Rehabilitation Counseling and a BS in Community Health Education from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.

Blue Star Families (BSF) is a national, nonprofit network by and for military families from all ranks and services, including active duty, National Guard and reserves. Blue Star Families strengthens military families and connects America to the military through a robust array of morale, empowerment, education and employment programs. Founded by military spouses in 2009, the organization has engaged tens of thousands of volunteers and served more than 1.5 million military family members annually, including wounded and transitioning service members and their loved ones.
