Adam L. Sharp

Adam L. Sharp, MD, MSc, is a board-certified emergency physician at the Los Angeles Medical Center, a research scientist at the Kaiser Permanente Southern California (KPSC) Research and Evaluation Department and is the Director of Academic Affairs for the new KP Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine in the Department of Clinical Science. He attended the University of Utah where he was a member of the 1998 NCAA Final Four basketball team and president of his medical school class. He completed residency at Indiana University where he was a chief resident, elected to the Gold Humanism Society and named the Resident Teacher of the Year.

After residency, Dr. Sharp became a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar at the University of Michigan earning a master’s degree in Health and Health Care Research. Dr. Sharp came to KP in 2013 to become an embedded researcher in a learning health system; he works to apply science in a real-world way that improves care delivery and health, and he is the current Director of the Care Improvement Research Team. His work has resulted in better antibiotic stewardship, improved stroke care, and improved care delivery for patients with head trauma and acute chest pain. He values the impact of social circumstances on the health of individuals and has been involved in projects to understand ways that health systems can better understand and address the social risks of patients.

Adam Sharp brings a rich medical background and data science perspective to Galvan. He envisions a future where everyone owns and controls their health data, and can receive unbiased health information to make smarter medical decisions.
