Laura Cooper

Laura Cooper, CISSP, CCSP has extensive work experience in the field of cybersecurity. Laura is currently employed as a Principal Security Architect at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, where they are responsible for designing and implementing security measures. Prior to this, Laura worked as a Principal Cloud Solutions Architect at CDW, where they specialized in cloud-based solutions. Laura also served as a Cyber Security SME at Modus21, LLC. and as a Senior Cybersecurity Analyst at Falconwood, Incorporated. Laura has held leadership roles at ECS and SAIC, where they led technical teams in the Defense Health Agency and Navy Medicine/DHA, respectively. Laura has also worked as a Senior Network Administrator at Scientific Research Corporation and as an Information Assurance Specialist at Engility Corporation. Earlier in their career, Laura held positions as a System Engineer at the Medical University of SC and as a Network Engineer at Summerall Data Systems, LLC. Throughout their career, Laura has demonstrated strong expertise in network security and information assurance.

Laura Cooper, CISSP, CCSP, has a diverse education history in the field of information security and management. Laura earned a Master's degree in Computer Information Systems - Security from Boston University between 2008 and 2010. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor's degree in Technical Management at DeVry University from 2003 to 2004. Laura began their educational journey by obtaining an Associate of Arts in Management Information Systems, General from Trident Technical College, where they studied from 1996 to 1998. Laura also holds an Associate of Public Service degree in Paralegal studies from Trident Technical College, earned between 1992 and 1994.

Laura has continued to enhance their skills and knowledge by obtaining various certifications. These include CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) obtained from (ISC)² in May 2018, CompTIA Security+ obtained from CompTIA in July 2012, and Agile Software Development from LinkedIn in April 2021. Laura also holds certifications in VCP-DCV for vSphere 7 from VMware in October 2021, CMMC RP (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Registered Practitioner) from the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Accreditation Body (CMMC AB) in April 2022, and Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) from (ISC)² in January 2023. Their most recent certification is AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner obtained from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in April 2023.
