Donald Lengner has an extensive work experience in the field of automation and engineering. Donald started their career at ESAB Welding and Cutting in 1983, where they held various roles including Senior Automation Technician, Lead for Robotics Assembly, and Robotics Service Representative. At ESAB, they worked on manufacturing robotic MIG welding systems for various industries.
In 1992, Donald joined Eastman Kodak as an Automated Equipment Mechanic, where they maintained high-speed chopping, handling, and robotic packaging equipment. Donald also repaired and troubleshooted these machines, which utilized Allen-Bradley PLC5 series processors, Ormec AC servo drives, ABB Robotics IRB robots, and other components.
At Eastman Kodak, Donald later became a Process Technician, responsible for identifying problem areas, designing solutions, and managing mid-level complexity projects. Donald also served as a Process Engineer, where they specified, designed, built, installed, and debugged automated x-ray film handling and packaging machinery. Donald had to comply with FDA regulations and execute software validation plans for medical products.
In 2008, Donald joined Blueprint Robotics as a Controls Engineer, programming, debugging, and commissioning vision-guided high-speed packaging equipment for the food packaging industry. Donald worked primarily with ABB IRB robots and became proficient in the RAPID language. Donald also traveled to installation sites for system power-up, debugging, and acceptance testing.
From 2017 to 2018, Donald worked at ATS Automation as a Senior Software Designer. Donald designed and wrote software for PLC, vision, and robotics applications in large-scale industrial automation systems. Donald also served as a Lead Software Designer, managing a small team of designers and participating in daily stand-up progress meetings.
Most recently, in 2018, Donald joined Eclipse Automation as a Control Systems Designer. Their responsibilities included designing control systems and contributing to the development of automation projects.
In November 2018, Donald started working at BluePrint Automation (BPA) as a Senior Software Engineer, where they are currently employed.
Donald Lengner attended Front Range Community College from 1995 to 1998, where they studied General Studies and did not obtain a degree. Prior to that, from 1977 to 1979, they attended the US Navy Electronics program, where they focused on Electronics, servo systems, and radar and obtained an Associates equivalent degree.
